£9,000 raised for BBC Children in Need by the Cambridge Fun Run 2007A cheque was last month presented to the BBC Children in Need Appeal on behalf of the Cambridge Fun Run. Thanks to the generosity and fun loving spirit of over 400 runners and their sponsors the Cambridge Fun Run 2007 raised £9,000 for the BBC Children in Need appeal. The Fun Run, which is open to everyone over the age of 18 throughout Cambridgeshire, took place on a Friday lunchtime in November 2007. Offices on the Cambridge Science Park were emptied as runners, marshals and spectators gathered for the 1.1 mile relay race. Great fancy dress costumes were on display, including the “Sprintstones”, the “Aztex Pirates” and “Titanic!” themes. Many took a gentle stroll around the Park while others set out to beat their rivals. The 2007 winners were “CSR Speedy Runners” for the Men, “Physio Angels” (Spire Healthcare) for the Women and “Toshiba” for the Mixed teams. The Fun Run is an annual event and is always held on the BBC’s Children in Need appeal day. This year the event is scheduled for Friday 14th November. More details and entry information will be posted on our website (www.camfunrun.org) later in the year. 2007 event organiser Ben Brierton said “It was great to see all the teams turn out for the event last year and raise so much money! A big thank you to everyone who took part and made the event so successful. Planning for the 2008 Fun Run has just begun and we’re looking for people to help again. It doesn’t require much time and is a lot of fun to be involved with. Please get in touch if you can offer any help.”
